Happy Birthday, Auggie! This handsome boy turns 12 on July 11th! Auggie is a loving and funny yellow lab who likes playing with his soccer ball, football, and stuffies...and he especially likes the water hose game! He sleeps on his back with a big grin, and his favorite food is cheese (oops, I said it...gotta go wipe up the drool!). In his youth, Auggie loved long walks. Although he's had to scale down since his ACL surgery, he saved some miles for the Anchor House kids!

Sherry's Canines for Kids
Sherry Schweighardt
Bruno, a one year-old Lagotto Romagnolo, is modeling the Anchor House bandana in the photo above, and he’ll be joined by a variety of other “ruff and ready” volunteers throughout the next month. Each Sunday, I’ll update you on our progress, complete with a list and photos of the week’s Kind Canines in action!
In particular, two of our Kind Canines are on a special mission; Bubba (pit bull mix) and Bergamot (hound-lab mix) are walking in memory of their human mom and my dear friend, Laurie, a longtime, generous supporter of Anchor House. She left special doggie gear for this event to help "her boys" raise cash for the kids.
Our Kind Canines team appreciates your donations to help the Anchor House kids. Please spread the word to your dog-loving friends, and feel free to share my Paws for Anchor House donation link (or my links for the Classic and Flex 500-mile bike rides and 100-mile run) with them. It’s for the kids!
Take care,
Sherry and the Kind Canines for Kids Team

Twila
Say hi to Kind Canines' biggest walker, Twila, a shy, sweet Great Dane who can look you straight in the eye! Twila enjoys trail walks in meadows and woods, where she uses her excellent sniffing skills to track every other creature who has passed that way before her. When not walking for the Anchor House kids, Twila likes munching her bones, chasing squirrels in the yard, and lounging on her personal chaise lounge.
Bryce
Bryce
Say hi to Bryce, a 7 year-old Australian labradoodle who likes playing tug-o-war and fetch more than just about anything! Bryce has fully recovered from spinal surgery just in time to walk for the Anchor House kids. Bryce has lots of energy and will summon his humans for playtime with his big bark, but he is also cuddly and will snuggle up with his head in a nearby lap. Fun Bryce fact: he likes to sleep on his back, and he thinks it's even more comfortable if you rub his belly.
Bergamot
Bubba
Please meet a special pair of Kind Canines: Bubba, a 14 year-old pit mix and Bergamot, a 2 year-old hound-lab-etc. mix. Bubba and Bergamot are walking in memory of their mother, Laurie Babicki, my dear friend and longtime Anchor House supporter who passed away in May 2026. An outstanding mom and teacher, Laurie was the kind of friend who donated funds to the Anchor House kids and also made sure I had the right nutrition, electrolytes, shoes, and other necessities to participate in the events, and who unfailingly welcomed me home with a handmade poster and flowers from her garden. We all feel her loss deeply, so Bubba and Bergamot are stepping up to help the Anchor House kids in her absence.
Cleo
Meet Cleo--short for Cleopatra, because she is to be treated like a queen! Cleo is a 15 year-old terrier mix sporting a gigantic grin and very willing to give kisses. In her youth, Cleo loved 6-mile hikes in the woods; these days, she prefers to amble along the trail to find the "best" smelling things. She has strong preferences about where she will walk and expects her attending human to follow. Cleo loves people and has enjoyed meeting everyone who has stopped to pet her on her Anchor House walks.
Dodger
Here's Dodger, a 12 year-old labradoodle who enjoys watching the neighborhood activity from his perch in the window, and of you come to his door, he'll greet you with a stuffie (or maybe a shoe) in his mouth. He loves roaming the park, watching soccer games, and sniffing pine cones in the woods. In between Anchor House walks, Dodger likes a good face and belly rub, a snooze on the bed, or tearing into his stuffed animal collection!
Dolly
Introducing Dolly, a 7 year-old foxhound-lab-"something else" mix, who bounds joyfully down the street or trail, letting you know she is there with her loud and happy "arfs!" Dolly is quick on her feet and has a discerning nose that sometimes dictates the direction of the walk or run. After walking for the kids, Dolly likes to sit in the window and keep tabs on the comings and goings in the neighborhood, where everyone looks for her and waves. She also enjoys a good belly rub or lap snooze.
Introducing the Kind Canines for Kids! Most of the furry faces you'll see here are contributing multiple walks and many miles for the Anchor House kids.Although their walks generally overlap, they appear here in the order of their first walk. First, meet Bruno, a lively 1 year-old Lagotto Romagnolo (Italian water retriever and forest truffle hunter). An enthusiastic and energetic boy, Bruno is enjoying walking, running, rolling, swimming, and generally cavorting for the Anchor House kids. When he finishes his miles, he catches treats and balls on the fly, does the Zoomies, and cuddles in laps.
