Welcome, new participants!

Meetings

We conduct three important meetings for new participants. These meetings will help answer your questions, equip you with a message about Anchor House and tools for fundraising, and give you last-minute details.

1 - for all new participants (and returning ones who want an update) - Sunday in late March - to have a tour of the shelter and Anchorage and learn about fundraising tools. Participants usually spend an additional 30 minutes socializing and asking specific questions.

2 - for new Classic Ride riders - Thursday evening in April - to learn about the Ride, the route, and training and safety tips.

3 - for all Classic Rider riders - Thursday evening in June - to learn final details.

Rider Mentors

New Classic Ride riders are paired with veteran ones from the Training Committee for advice and mentorship by telephone. Meet your mentor at the training rides. Read more on the Training Rides page.

Training Rides

Training rides are mostly for riders in the Classic Ride. Two of them are mandatory for new Classic Ride riders and certain veteran ones. The last training ride is combined with the start of the Flex Ride. Participants have found these rides beneficial whether they were experienced cyclists or relatively new to the sport. These rides will help you prepare you for the rigors off the Ride and meet other riders, help Classic Ride riders learn how to communicate with the Rovers and find a roommate, and help Flex Ride riders start their challenge of 500 miles in 6 weeks. Read more on the Training Rides page.

Walkers/Runners

Walkers/Runners gather for the start of their event in June at the Princeton Shopping Center. There is a guided loop of about 3 miles, on sidewalks and paths, from the shopping center, across town, into Community Park North, and back. This event will help you start your challenge of 100 miles in 6 weeks, and meet other walkers or runners. Read more on the Training Rides page.
