Abuse and Fear

The Abuse is real. The Fear is real. The Lie is that “The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself”!! Ask any Child who makes the choice to live on the street. Those children live there because “There is a fear so real that a child believes it is safer to live on the street than at home”. I understand that Fear. Anchor House provides the Safety, Love, and Hope they need. Because of this on July 13th I will board a bus to Auburn, NY, to participate in The 41st Annual Anchor House Ride for Runaways. This will be the 10th year that I will take a weeks’ vacation and ride 500 miles in 7 days. I request your help in meeting my goal this year to raise $10,000 to Support Anchor House and those that depend on its services.

Anchor House was founded in 1979 to provide emergency housing, food, clothing and hope for runaway and homeless children, ages 10 to 17. The shelter provides for the immediate needs of runaway and homeless youth, while seeking to reunite them with their families, strengthen family relationships and help them decide on a constructive course of action. Services are available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The mission of Anchor House has grown since it was founded and now also includes the Anchorage for older teens.

At the same time those dedicated volunteers founded the shelter in 1979, a small group of equally dedicated bicyclists started the “Ride for Runaways” to raise the funds needed to keep the doors of Anchor House open.

Please consider supporting the kids of Anchor House with a donation. Now, more than ever they need us. I will be bicycling for 7 days in the heat, rain, or whatever the weather offers. With other riders I will be climbing mountains and peddling 70 plus miles per day. While it will be a challenging week, it is a very challenging daily existence for the kids of Anchor House.
